Read Across America…With The Lorax!

March 2nd is Dr. Seuss’ birthday, as well as the National Education Association’s Read Across America Day.  This year, the date corresponds with the release of the movie, The Lorax.  Today, the New York Public Library is hosting a national reading event.  Zac Efron and Danny DeVito, who voice the film’s characters, will be reading at the event to students from local New York public schools.

What can you do on this special day?  Pick up a book and read!  Set aside time to either read to your child, or if your child is an independent reader simply set a good example by reading at the same time.  Children who read, or are read to, are more likely to succeed academically.  So give your child a head start by sharing a good book!

And in the words of the great Dr. Seuss, “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”
― Dr. Seuss, I Can Read With My Eyes Shut!
